We operate out of beautiful Camp Mack, located on the shores of Lake Kissimmee at: 14900 Camp Mack Rd, Lake Wales, FL 33898
Unless otherwise arranged, AM trips depart from Camp Mack roughly 30 minutes before sunrise, and PM trips depart in the afternoon based on seasonal bite patterns and weather conditions.
If you’re visiting from out of town, we highly recommend staying right at Camp Mack (opens in new tab).
They offer:
- On‑site cabins
- The Liar’s Lodge — a 40‑room hotel perfect for anglers and families
Our primary targeted species include:
- Crappie (Speck)
- Shellcracker
- Bluegill
Each species is targeted seasonally to give you the best chance at steady action.
(Mid‑March through Mid‑September)
During their spawning season, we target shellcracker and bluegill using live red worms and focus on pulling them out of thick, shallow vegetation.
- March & April: Lower numbers, but this is when we often catch trophy‑size shellcracker.
- Summer Months: Numbers increase, creel limits are commonly met, and the bite gets hotter as the water warms.
(Mid‑September through Mid‑March)
Crappie are targeted using artificial baits or live minnows, depending what provides the best bite at that time.
- Spawn: Typically mid‑January through mid‑ to late‑March. Just like with shellcracker and bluegill, we focus on finding crappie in shallow vegetation during the spawn.
- Non‑Spawn Months: We catch crappie using a variety of techniques:
- Spider‑rigging (trolling) with multiple rods
- Grass Line fishing - sitting on the edges of deeper grass lines catching them as they make their way back and forth from shallow and deeper water.
- Utilizing Live Scope (Forward‑Facing Sonar) to track suspended fish or tickle their nose on a brush pile.
No matter which species you’re after, we’ve got you covered during their optimal seasons.
Don’t forget your Florida fishing license and a cooler to take home your catch.
